Bruce: What can you say, the books were the best PI/crime series written. I remember waiting and waiting for "The Blue Hammer" to be released in the mid-70s. Read them all -many times. "The Instant Enemy" is one of my top three in the series. Talking with people, seems everyone has their favorite Archer novel. It shows the strength of the author when that occurs. Lew Archer is my favorite P.I., with Paul Pine coming in a strong second. Great reviews on all of the Ross Macdonald novels.
