Raising Atlantis

raising atlantis thomas greanias reviewThe “#1 BESTSELLING E-BOOK” banner on the spine of RAISING ATLANTIS should be your first red flag that Thomas Greanias’ debut novel is less than thrilling. After all, anybody can release a friggin’ e-book, right?

Well, surprise, surprise, because ATLANTIS is a more-than-competent, mildly engaging adventure, concerning seismic activity in Antarctica that leads to the discovery of the fabled lost underwater city. Hell, it’s all right there in the title.

Scientists, the military, the Pope — ATLANTIS offers something for thriller fans, whether your tastes lean toward Michael Crichton, Clive Cussler or Dan Brown. The action gets seriously muddled in the last third as the typical cat-and-mouse scenario unfolds throughout a giant pyramid, but for a quick summer read, you could do a lot worse.

I thought Raising Atlantis was the biggest piece of garbage I’ve ever had the misfortune to waste money on. It’s nothing short of a lobotomized theft of Stel Pavlou’s Decipher that came out in 2001.

I have DECIPHER, but have not yet read it. Have there been actual claims of thievery concerning the two books?
