		<description>Hi Bruce, looks like you wrote this entry last year (I just stumbled on it searching Google for James Mayo - I re-read Hammerhead recently and pretty much agree with your comments, he lacks personality). But I wanted to say thinks for mentioning Adam Hall/Elleston Trevor/Quiller. Both the writer and the character are among my favorites. 
Under many different names Trevor (even that wasn't his birth name) wrote about 100 or so novels, about 20 on Quiller. Most of the Quillers are excellent and so are many of the other books, some literature. He was a great guy too, a sweetheart of a man.
