In two titles, Tara Bennett looks behind the scenes at one of the summer's most anticipated films: TERMINATOR SALVATION, the fourth in the sci-fi franchise. More than any trailer, these books generate some excitement for it.
The hardcover TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE OFFICIAL MOVIE COMPANION gives the complete story of the production, starting with its "why even bother?" inception. Including interviews with director McG and star Christian Bale, among others, Bennett's text falls somewhere between a candid ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY article and a studio-endorsed press release, but it's the photos that make this undeniable for fans.
That may go double for THE ART OF TERMINATOR SALVATION, a hardcover presented in a horizontal format — all the better in presenting photos and sketches designed for the silver screen. Production art and preliminary designs are plentiful, presented anywhere between the size of postage stamps to double-page spreads.
These terminator robots on motorcycles and water-based ones look pretty frickin' cool. Then again, Titan Books does a great job of presentation in these film companions, with top-notch design that immediately ups their keepsake factor. —Rod Lott
