[...] NOVEL IDEAS: FANTASY is an anthology of eight original short stories, which were eventually expanded by their authors into full-fledged novels. The concept is to show how these stories evolved from a complete brief episode into part of a whole of a more complex narrative. This is an interesting idea and a companion book for science fiction (conveniently titled NOVEL IDEAS: SCIENCE FICTION) is also available. [...]

Agreed, Brian.

Your REEL STUFF anthology is out of print, but I enjoyed it last year when ibooks rereleased it as CYBERFILMS. I had written a review of it at some point; I'll have to dig it up.

Thank you for the reviews of both NOVEL IDEA books.
Like my previous book THE REEL STUFF, it is my sincere hope that these anthologies will provide a jumping off point for new or young or casual readers to develop a taste for works in the genre, sort of the appetizer sampler plate that might lead to larger more elaborate meals.

... and if that sliver of a taste, that short story, leads to a second or third helping, all the better.

All generations could do with a widespread outbreak of literary addiction ... not just SF/F but all genres.

Strangely enough, as soon as I finished this review, I sat on the couch and the movie Millennium (based of the short story Air Raid in this collection) was on. Holy Craptacular! You've got to love Kristofferson, though.
