I'm unsure as to why THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST NEW MANGA 3 Order viagra, deserves to be pegged as manga. After all, I thought comics had to come from Japan to earn that designation. Yet this collection features talent from all over the world, including Americans, and with precious little drawn in the distinctive manga style, order viagra. It's almost like the book is purposely choosing the hipper term, in which case I don't fault it. Order viagra, That's not a complaint, because this is a surprisingly strong anthology of fresh, mostly undiscovered talent, with much of it culled from the web. Ultimately, I don't care what it's called or how it's classified — I'm just glad it exists. And that it's in full color — unlike other recent MAMMOTH illustrated titles — is a total bonus, order viagra.
It begins with Andi Watson and Woodrow Phoenix's lengthy "Kitsune Tales," a charming, dreamlike fantasy piece that wouldn't be out of place in the FLIGHT series. Order viagra, Outer-space sci-fi adventure is next at bat with Robert Deas' "Unity Rising," followed by Mitz's futuristic teen soap "Pilot." So in the first three stories, editor Ilya already has proved his might by picking a diverse lot. (It also should be noted that Ilya's selections are complete; no single entry is a mere excerpt, which is why you'll get your money's worth out of its slick 450 pages.)
Paul Harrison-Davies takes a near-wordless approach to the harmless household comedy of "My Robot," while Laura Howell gets nastier (and funnier) with the Peter Bagge-esque "The Adventures of Gilbert & Sullivan," as the two Victorian songsters embarrassingly and hilariously court twins.
In a section that highlights contest winners, Michael Kacar effectively parodies IRON CHEF with "Ramen Jiman." Shari Chankhamma goes for a painted look in the post-apocalyptic "Ed & Ecchi: Me and My Food," starring a guy and his cat trying to remain happy while it's all CHILDREN OF MEN-y outside, order viagra. Similar in scope and scares is the disturbing "Last Shadows Cast," a stark entry from Caspar Wijngaard. Order viagra, For a far lighter end-of-the-world number, check out Kit Wallis and Paul Fryer's kiddo-oriented "Monster Mayhem."
The proceedings occasionally get serious, notably in a rare drama piece titled "July Tenth." I can't tell you any more about Eve Yap's contribution without spoiling it, and you may guess it early, but it's still effective at poking at your heart (provided you have one, bastard). Another love story can be found in Niki Smith's "Friction Between," but it's underwritten, as I didn't quite get why its female protagonists reacted the way they did.
Interspersed throughout the book are several funny-animal one-pagers of Joanna Zhou's "Carlos & Sakura." Other artists are represented by more than one piece, as well, like the aforementioned Harrison-Davies, who returns with a terrific VOLTRON spoof called "Hero Z," complete with surprise ending.
Ilya not only introduces you to an array of talented writers and artists merely by giving their work exposure, but also provides a page-long introduction for each, often with links if you're inclined to investigate them further. My bet is if this type of book lies in your range of interest, you'll find several to check out and get to know better. That's the best thing about anthologies like these, and BEST NEW MANGA 3 is an under-the-radar example. Take this chunky collection of your commute and brighten your day with nearly every page. I'm counting the days until a fourth. —Rod Lott

Hi Rod,
Thanks for that. Better not to hold your breath if you are still counting, since the publishers in their infinite whizz-dumb have elected to put the title “on hiatus”. Not cancelled, as such, but no volume 4 for 2009. Fingers crossed this isn’t the end, just the beginning of a whole lot else and more for all concerned. Myself and all the other artists sincerely appreciate your support, though.
Readers, go and out and buy your copy already! Demand more!!

I really liked this book, and I wanted to thank Ilya for the great selection of stories he put together.
Hoping to see more art from Shari and Mitz somewhere on the internet (those were two of my favorite stories from the book).
