junior macaulay culkin reviewNot much going down at the new release shelf today, but here’s what we managed to scrounge up for you, because we love you:

JUNIOR is the “literary” debut of troubled child actor Macaulay Culkin. We put literary in quotes, because people aren’t quite sure what to make of this mix of novel, memoir, poetry and doodled notebook pages. But most people agree that it’s all crap.

• Just squeaking through is one of the last titles ibooks will ever publish: a softcover version of Marv Wolfman’s CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS. It’s a novelization of the DC Comics miniseries that featured every character from the DC universe.

nymphos of rocky flats review• John “Red” Shea offers the memoir RAT BASTARDS: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF SOUTH BOSTON’S MOST HONORABLE IRISH MOBSTER. Isn’t “most honorable mobster” like being named “best pedophile babysitter”? I shouldn’t joke around, because any author who has a nickname on the front cover could probably beat me up. (His 12 years in the joint for selling drugs is also a good sign.) Plus, the foreword is by Mark Wahlberg, and he’ll put your eye out.

• And as much as I like saying the title of RAT BASTARDS aloud, I like saying THE NYMPHOS OF ROCKY FLATS even more. It’s a vampire novel from newcomer Mario Acevedo, whose name is almost as much fun to say as that title. All together now: THE NYMPHOS OF ROCKY FLATS. Wasn’t that fun?
