Tor reopens Wilson’s TOMB

the tomb review f paul wilsonOn Aug. 1, Tor will reissue F. Paul Wilson’s 1984 novel THE TOMB in an “author’s definitive edition” at an absolute bargain price of $3.99.

It’s all an attempt to introduce new readers to the supernatural fix-it man Repairman Jack franchise, now eight books strong, with THE TOMB being the first. And you know what? It’s going to work. Including on me. Yep, I’ve never read a Repairman Jack novel, but I’ve also never read a Wilson work that I didn’t love.

Buy it at Amazon.

The Keep was a big dissapointment, all this build up for a lame happy ending. I have a copy of The Tomb sitting in my pile to be read. It’s probably going ot sit there a lot longer then expected.

I’ve been wanting to read THE KEEP, but have yet to. I’ve long been intrigued by THE TOMB and the Repairman Jack series, but have hesitated because of the sheer number of books; the collector in me will want them all, I know.

I’ve read Wilson’s SIMS and MIDNIGHT MASS, a host of short stories and his DIAGNOSIS: TERMINAL medical thriller anthology, all of which I really liked.

I think the Keep was great, especially in the context of the 5-book Adversary cycle that it began. Don’t judge the lame happy ending too soon. I was also disappointed by the Keep until I got through the other books. It all makes sense in the end. The Tomb is pretty rockin.

[...] All the news that’s fit to capsulize!TOR PRICE-’JACK’S WILSON Along with the aforementioned Aug. 1 paperback reissue of F. Paul Wilson’s THE TOMB for only $4.99, Tor seeks to entice even more new followers to the Church of Wilson with equally cheap new editions of THE KEEP and ALL THE RAGE the same day. If we weren’t already a convert, his Repairman Jack story in the current THRILLER anthology would’ve done it for us. [...]

Do you have to read “the keep” before “the tomb” because I accidentally started the tomb before reading the keep?

You don’t have to read The Keep first to enjoy The Tomb. They are two completely different stories and characters.

But if you are going to read the Adversary Cycle you would need to read The Keep.

You can enjoy all the Repairman Jack books on their own. But it would be smart to read them in order.

They are two different series. Except for the last book in the Repairman Jack series was published years ago it is also part of the Adversary Cycle - Nightworld. Now trying to find used copies of books for The Adversary Cycle can be a bit daunting. You can safely read all the Repairman Jack book in order and you wont be misssing anything. Since F Paul Wilson has stated at some point he wants to update Nightworld and reissue it. You can also visit his site which has a great FAQ that can help you out.
