Stephen King returns to ‘SALEM’S LOT with super-sized edition

salem\'s lot illustrated edition king reviewFirst published in 1975, ‘SALEM’S LOT was Stephen King’s second novel. No doubt with a little help thanks to the truly frightening 1979 TV-movie, the book has become a seminal work of the vampire genre.

Whether you’ve never read it or can’t get enough of it, Doubleday is issuing ‘SALEM’S LOT: ILLUSTRATED EDITION next month in honor of its 30th anniversary. Like a DVD director’s cut, the hardcover will feature eight black-and-white photos by Jerry Uelsmann (KINGDOM HOSPITAL), two previously unpublished short stories related to the novel and a new introduction from King himself. Oh, and 50 new pages that make it the “masterpiece as (King) always envisioned it.”

This new LOT comes to pass on Nov. 1; you can preorder it now.

[...] One scene pays tribute to the greats of vampire literature, as Agent Gray heads to the library for research and dips into Bram Stoker’s DRACULA, Stephen King’s ‘SALEM’S LOT and Richard Matheson’s I AM LEGEND. While I doubt RUMORS will have the kind of impact to allow it to be mentioned in that company one day, it’s a gripping, solid start of a new series that’s so exciting, I can feel it in my … er, blood. –Rod Lott [...]
