LOCH’s Alten seeks the tooth

loch steve alten reviewAfter authoring three giant-shark books in the MEG series, Steve Alten turns to Scottish waters and the Loch Ness monster for his latest novel, THE LOCH. However, the author believes his legendary subject is far from fiction.

A press releases stated that two American students on recent holiday at Loch Ness discovered a half-eaten deer whose carcass was punctured by a 4-inch barbed tooth. Though the tooth was confiscated by authorities, the boys took photos and video footage. Alten has joined in the hunt for the tooth, which some believe may offer the first DNA evidence of the monster’s existence.

Marine biologists have identified the tooth as belonging to a large eel, the skull of which would measure more than five feet. Alten’s publisher Tsunami Books has commissioned a life-size replica of the skull and tooth, both of which will be unveiled next month. For more information, visit lochnesstooth.com.
