stephen king cell reviewTo promote Stephen King’s new novel – CELL, due next week – publisher Scribner has launched a viral marketing campaign utilizing both the web and mobile phones.

Via the book’s official website, users can have ominous phone messages beamed to their friends’ (or enemies’) cell phones for $1.99. Or, for those who like their practical jokes on the cheap, you can have an MP3 of “the Pulse” sent via e-mail. In CELL, “the Pulse” is a mysterious signal that turns cell phone users into zombies.

You can also enter to win a framed, signed CELL book jacket and a signed mini-library of King’s novels. Thanks to Branding Buzz for the tip.
