Forget Sudoku! Do you Kakuro?

kakuro free puzzles downloadHey, kids! Remember Sudoku, that “mind-numbingly addictive” new number puzzle game that was sweeping the nation just a few months ago? Sooo five minutes ago.

USA Today reports the latest and greatest easy-to-misspell game is Kakuro, for which the object is to place the numerals 1 through 9 in blocks of two to nine squares so that the sum of each line matches the associated clue, if that makes any sense at all.

Anyway, publishers awash in Sudoku cash so believe Kakuro is the next big thing that a dozen books “have just released or are getting ready to release,” but an Amazon search reveals twice that number, with titles ranging from THE ESSENTIAL BOOK OF KAKURO to LITTLE BOOK OF BATHROOM KAKURO. No, I’m not making that up.

Do you suppose that the Japanese are just making up these stupid puzzles to keep us occupied while they mastermind an attempt to take over the world? Hmmm… What’d you get for row 5 column 7? Domo Arigatou…

Hmmm … and a new conspiracy theory takes root. Remember, you heard it here first, people!
