My run on WONDER WOMAN is one of the things I'm proudest of in my career as a DC editor. I'm a lifelong fan so it was cool to be able to help boost the book's popularity all those years later.

You know...I forgot I did that story. Thanks for the kind words! And Jose Delbo is underrated; I did a lot of work with him at DC Comics and he was the artist on the Superman newspaper strip while I was writing it. I'm a big fan of his art and he is, on top of that, one of the nicest people I ever met in the comics business.

I've read all the Wonder Woman novels (including THE GAUNTLET by Louise Simonson). For what it's worth, here's how I would rank them:

1. WONDER WOMAN by S.D. Perry & Britta Dennison
2. THE GAUNTLET: JUSTICE LEAGUE by Louise Simonson
3. THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF WONDER WOMAN edited by Martin Greenberg
4. WONDER WOMAN: MYTHOS by Carol Lay
5. WONDER WOMAN: GODS & GODDESSES by John Byrne

Kupperberg began editing Wonder Woman comic book in WW 85 (2nd volume). He was the man that brought Mike Deodato Jr. to pencil Diana's adventures, then Byrne followed and that forgettable run with Luke/Paquette. It was under her editing time that Wondy rose back in popularity and sales. In the letter column of the comic books he always did show care, love and respect for both the character and the fans. He also wrote an story for WW in the volume one in those days when the underrated José Delbo was the artist.

Thanks for the good article and big hugs from Venezuela Mr. Kupperberg!!.

I grew up reading WONDER WOMAN while Kupperberg was editor of the book so he was just as important to my childhood as the creators he worked with on the title. I was very excited to read this article by the former editor!

John Byrne's GODS & GODDESSES is an amazing novel and must have for any Wonder Woman fan. I actually reread it not too long ago years after my initial purchase. The story and characters within still had the same magic and excitement as before!
