HOPE YOU DON’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE
Did you hear the one about the 8,000-page fantasy epic from the late 19th century? It’s no joke — it’s HOSHRUBA, dubbed as the “world’s first and longest magical fantasy epic.” Written by Muhammad Husain Jah and Ahmed Husain Qamar from 1883 to 1893, it’s now been translated by Pakistani novelist Musharraf Ali Farooqi into a work spanning 24 volumes. Find out the story behind the story.
OH, ‘GOD,’ YOU KINDLE!
To promote his thriller THE GOD MACHINE, J.G. Sandom is running a contest in which readers can win either $500 or an Amazon Kindle 2, plus an autographed copy of the book. Now through July 31, anytime a reader blogs, Tweets or reviews the book, he or she is entered into a random drawing for the prizes. Further entries can be gained by posting e-postcards, inviting Sandom to speak at your book club, compiling a book trailer for THE GOD MACHINE or attending one of the author’s readings.
COONTS COUNTS
To promote August’s paperback release of his thriller THE ASSASSIN, St. Martin’s is reissuing four previous Stephen Coonts novels at a specially priced $4.99: CUBA, HONG KONG, AMERICA and LIBERTY. The paperbacks go on sale June 30.
