KING-CAT creator John Porcellino swung by Atomik Pop in Norman, Okla., finishing up his tour to promote his most recent collection, MAP OF MY HEART, released by Drawn & Quarterly. The indie cartoonist spoke at length about his creative process, particularly in transferring true-life events from his life onto the printed page.

Excerpts from his Drawn & Quarterly collections were shown via slideshow, as Porcellino introduced, read and discussed them.

“This is my art,” Porcellino said of KING-CAT, as he held the current issue of the zine up to the crowd. He still publishes the comic, 21 years after its inception.
