Introducing the SOLAR PLEXUS WATCH!

solar plexus watchSomething we’ve been noticing ever since we started BOOKGASM: Writers sure do use the phrase “solar plexus” a lot. There are tons of places on the human body where it hurts to be hit, but “solar plexus” seems to be the fave.

Don’t believe me? Then check out our newest feature: the continually updated SOLAR PLEXUS WATCH. It merits its own page, accessible from the main page of this site at any time. From now on, anytime we come across those two words in a novel, you’ll see it tagged in the review and then added for historical prosperity to the master list. Authors, consider yourself on full alert!

Where exactly is your solar plexus? and what makes it so popular?

It’s in your abdomen: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_plexus
Not sure why it’s so popular to use.

… maybe because it sounds painful? “Not in the solar plexus, dude. Oh God, not there!” Or because it’s a bit of Latin most folks have heard of. One more way to say dude or dudette took a shot to the gut. It also does hurt to take a hit there. Kind of radiates throughout the torso. A lesser cousin to one to the nads, while the striker maintains dignity.
