Author/filmmaker Mick Garris chatted with us to promote RIDING THE BULLET: THE DELUXE SPECIAL EDITION DOUBLE from LonelyRoad Books, which includes Garris’ screenplay for the movie with Stephen King’s original novella.
BOOKGASM: Was your ultimate goal to be a filmmaker, did you just fall into it in large part to your break on Steven Spielberg’s AMAZING STORIES, or did you just want to be a storyteller, regardless of the medium?
GARRIS: I actually started writing fiction when I was about 12, after having been all about drawing. My father had gone to art school, and was a pretty good artist who was never able to make a living at it. Once I started writing, I quit drawing; I originally wanted to be a cartoonist and animator.
